TWO YEARS LIVING WITH DARCIE
-first in a series by Marcie Mercy
Ok, folks, that's just the working title, but this story must be told.
Earlier today, June 9, 2007, the seed was planted in my brain by Pawleen. You should know who Pawleen is, if you've paid any attention at all to this website. Pawleen IS THE taller dog. An empress, a gentle giant guardian angel. She does what she needs to do, not what any person tells her to. Although, I have to hand it to Darcie, she listens to her a fair amount.
But I digress. Pawleen needs to tell her story about Darcie. Specifically the last couple of years. Darcie adopted Pawleen from a shelter about 8 1/2 years ago, when she was 5 or 6 months old. They have shared many adventures, but the last two years have been different. Pawleen wants to be heard. Her bark just doesn't carry as much as she needs it to.
You are less likely to know who I am. My name is Marcie Mercy. Call me Darcie's alter ego, if you like, but, truly, I am her twin fiddle sister. Darcie invited me to play and sing on her new CD. It's about time. Darcie's photo os on the front of the CD cover, and mine is on the back. I have been coming to Darcie's shows, and I get to sing and play a few songs. Finally!
Pawleen's command of the english language is pretty good, but she hasn't learned to write too well. So she asked me. Marcie to be her ghost writer. Now, Darcie, Pawleen, and I ALL have to share the computer (Pawleen recently admitted she had thumbs). We have to work out our schedules and priorities. Darcie says Pawleen is certainly not working at the computer. Not after she discovered her watching the adventures of Yethmuth and Mr. Snoot. Hogging the keyboard and drooling on top of it. If she starts a fan club they'll be no stopping her.
Darcie seems to be busy with a CD release, preparing for a trip to Scotland, and spending as much time in bed as possible with her foot up, admiring her red cast. The broken bones inside the foot underneath the cast... well, speaking for Pawleen... who cares? Walks appear to be out for some time. Then, what's time to a dog?
